book for claire & andy
my sister invited me to be her wedding photographer. i couldn’t pass up the opportunity to also make a book to home the prints.
the book jacket is leather, roughly 7mm thick,
binding loosely the pages within with a rouge ribbon.
the pages within are sewn together with black thread,
forming in three signatures, which in turn were stitched together.
stitched around the corners of each photograph, the black thread was a real neat solution; keeping the composition of the photos somewhat secure. this was important – the whole book had to maintain a crafted, material-conscious feel – a part of that thing about weddings; about ideal moments reaching very close to existent, that talks about a marriage of pureness and realness. it took me a couple of weeks to test and resolve how i would fix the photos to the page.
the leather jacket was a gorgeous though tough material to work with. it was so fibrous!
the photographs are all from my treasured canon ae-1
